Lia spends most of the novel trying to avoid hearing it.Īnderson portrays Lia from the inside out with stirring and poignant language. Cassie leaves Lia a message before she dies in a hotel room alone. Lia says that they are Wintergirls and they have made a pact to be the skinniest girl in school.
